Friends, gone are the days when being hot was the want and desire…..Being cool is the trend….

And why not when we are in the thick of a summer?

Summer has arrived, so you need to prepare to combat summer as well as covid. You need to keep your body cool from the intense heat and boost your immunity.

Today I am talking about ‘Summer Superfoods.’

Yes, food which keeps our body cool, refreshing and full of energy.

1.Sattu:

Sattu is enriched with nutrients like proteins, fibers,   carbs, iron, calcium and many more. It has cooling properties. It keeps our stomach cool and prevents indigestion. Mix it with water and take empty stomach and watch, you will stay supercool throughout the day.

2. Onions:

Onions have been used to treat heat strokes since our dadi-nani times. Onions are full of nutrients and antioxidants. It is also good for blood pressure, diabetes, and heart health. Eat raw onions with your daily diet. Don’t forget to use a mouth freshener later before you meet someone.

3.Melons:

Summer is the perfect season to eat melons. Watermelons and muskmelons. Watermelon is loaded with lycopene, an antioxidant, and 90% water helping us to be hydrated. It is low in calories. So, keep your body cool and hydrated with fresh melons. Use it every time you feel thirsty, and the nutrients come free with it.

4.Oranges & Berries

Orange is loaded with high amount of vitamin C which increases immunity (which we want to in these tough times) and potassium which helps in maintaining the electrolyte balance in the body. Eat half with evening high-tea and you will feel energetic.

5.Raw Mango:

Everyone loves kairi. It is rich in vitamin A and vitamin E. It prevents dehydration by stopping excessive loss of sodium chloride from the body during sweating in hot summer. It has a cooling effect on the body. So, drink delicious aam panna this season.

6.Cucumber:

Cucumbers are low in calories and high in vitamins, minerals, and water. It keeps you hydrated because it has approximately 90% water. It is ideal for detoxification and preventing dehydration. You can eat it raw with lemon or with lemon juice and mint and enjoy the season.

7.Mint and Tulsi:

Mint is known to help your body to stay cool and tulsi acts as a cleansing and cooling agent and as an immunity booster as well. You can have chutneys, raitas or have tulsi tea in the morning.

8.Ghee:

Ghee, a superfood of all time, gives energy to our body to keep going. It is loaded with healthy fats. Our body feels dry in summer so it helps to balance internal moisture and also help in digestion. Stop using refined oils and start cooking on ghee.

9.Coconut water:

It is refreshing and loaded with minerals and electrolytes. It helps in increasing your immunity and keeping you hydrated. Start your day with fresh coconut water

10.Curd:

Curd is a great probiotic. It improves immunity and digestion. It can keep you hydrated and boost your energy. So, include it in your daily diet as curd or buttermilk.
